Peter Ruggiero

Peter Ruggiero is a professor in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences and was the Interim Director of the Oregon Climate Change Research Institute (OCCRI) from 2019–2020. A coastal geomorphologist by training, his current research interests include understanding the processes driving nearshore, beach, and backshore coastal change, impacts of climate change and variability on coastal flooding and erosion hazards, and modeling community inspired climate change adaptation strategies. He has been involved with the Climate Impacts Research Consortium (CIRC) for many years, leading the Tillamook and Grays Harbor Coastal Futures projects. He earned a BS in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University, and a MS and PhD in Civil Engineering from OSU.
