Research Theme: Directs the Global Change Research Program at Portland State, a group conducting research on sources and characteristics of urban air pollution to the long-term global effects of man-made pollutants. Dr Khalil maintains a research program on the methane cycle, and first showed that methane was increasing in the atmosphere. Use of gases as signatures of the origins and the nature of Arctic haze.
