Northwest Climate Science Center
OCCRI hosts the Northwest Climate Science Center (NW CSC), which combines academic and federal expertise to advance development and delivery of climate science for managers in the Northwest region. The NW CSC is a consortium of Oregon State University, the University of Washington and the University of Idaho with oversight from USGS. The NW CSC was established in 2010 by the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) and is one of eight regional DOI Climate Science Centers.
NW CSC activities involving OCCRI include supporting graduate fellowships, annual summer training “Climate Boot Camp,” and stakeholder engagement to co-produce “actionable science”.
Of particular significance was OCCRI's involvement in the NW CSC Integrated Scenarios of the Future Northwest Environment project that resulted in several datasets describing projected changes in climate, hydrology and vegetation for the 21st century over the Northwestern US. The Integrated Scenarios website provides a repository of information about the different models and products, a data portal for downloading datasets, and a set of visualizations from the different modeling efforts.
